đī¸ What is Jyotish?
Jyotish (ā¤āĨ⤝āĨ⤤ā¤ŋ⤎) translates to "the Science of Light" â from jyoti (light) and isha (lord/God). It is the ancient Indian system of astrology, a sacred Vedic discipline dating back over 5,000 years, rooted in the Rig Veda and systematized by sages like Parashara, Jaimini, and Varahamihira.
Unlike Western astrology, which focuses on psychological insight, Jyotish is fundamentally karmic â it maps the soul's journey across lifetimes, revealing past-life debts (prarabdha karma), current-life purpose (dharma), and the timing of key events through its unique Dasha system.

Sidereal Zodiac
Uses actual star positions (sidereal), not seasons. The zodiac aligns with the real constellations, offset by ~24° (Ayanamsa) from the tropical zodiac.
Karmic Philosophy
Your birth chart is a snapshot of karma from past lives. Every planetary placement tells a story of debts owed, lessons to learn, and gifts earned.
Predictive Power
Through the Dasha system and transits (Gochara), Jyotish predicts specific life events with remarkable precision â marriage, career shifts, health issues, and spiritual awakenings.
5,000+ Year Lineage
Transmitted from guru to shishya (student) for millennia. The foundational text, Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra, contains the complete system codified by Sage Parashara.
The Four Purusharthas (Life Goals)
Vedic astrology helps you navigate all four aims of human life:

The fulfillment of desire â enjoying the pleasures of life (love, art, beauty, sensory delight) in harmony with dharma.
Moksha
Liberation and spiritual freedom
The ultimate goal â liberation from the cycle of birth and death, union with the divine, and freedom from all karma.
